ITAGAKI COME BAAAAAAAACK!!! by Hanoko ITAGAKI COME BAAAAAAAACK!!! by Hanoko
All of you know what I'm gonna talking about. The reviews said it, and unfortunately it is true. Ninja Gaiden 3 is a real deception.

The gameplay has been terribly impoverished (always the same ennemies, only one weapon and ninpo, no more adventure and exploration) and MotherFucking QTE are MotherfuckingPointless. The story is awfully bad, full of borring cliches and absurd developments and takes way too much place in the game. The graphics are correct but they are far from being as beautiful and awesome as they were before. The design of the backgrounds, landscapes, and ennemies truely lack of creativity contrary to the previous games which had awesome fiends and environements.
Ninja Gaiden 3 also uses too much things from the previous games (ennemies, places etc.), it proves the lack of inspiration.

However, I say "Itagaki come back" but not "Hayashi get away" because not everything is bad about Ninja Gaiden 3. (Tomonobu Itagaki is the director of the original Ninja Gaiden on Xbox and Yosuke Hayashi has the direction of the Ninja Gaiden Sigma series, now he directed Ninja Gaiden 3 since Itagaki and most of the original Team Ninja are away).
There are some good ideas and I think the main characters are cool. I particularly fancied Cliff at the beginning, he was so hilarious when he was chatting by radio with Ryu. Regent of Mask is badass too. But the story is so stupid that it totally screwed all the characters of the game. More than everything, they messed up Ryu's personality (too much emotive and not really credible) and face design (he is so ugly -_-). Above all, he pulls off his mask too easily, all the symbolic aspect of his mask is ruined.
The new Team Ninja brought some new interesting things but they wasted them.
I wrote my full review there --> [link] (only in french sorry!)

TLDR: there are some good intentions in Ninja Gaiden 3 but the result is a phail and believe me, it costs me to say it T_T

About the drawing: my character having a rage of nostalgia for the previous Ninja Gaiden, with some of my fav characters of the previous games.
I made a "quick" colouring on Photoshop (yes, when I spend less than 10 hours on a drawing it is a short time for me), experimenting a pose with a low point of view I'm not used to draw.

Ayane, Zedonius, Muramasa, Ishtaros, Ryu Hayabusa, Elizebet, Momiji, Murai, Genshin and Doku are from Ninja Gaiden I and II are Team Ninja

I play ng3 razor's edge, and it's awesome. The problem is that the game on ultimate is hard for the wrong reasons. I'm playing the story mode on ultimate ninja and I'm stuck in day 2.

Yes, I heard that RE corrected several gameplay flaws of the original NG3.
Wrong reasons? That is to say?

Yeah. On ultimate, the game is just annoying. Enemies gang up on you, grabs and kamikaze attacks kill you in one hit.

Agree. I'm stuck on day 2. It's so annoying to try and destroy 2 helicopters (they come one at a time) with a shitty bow (the upgrades only come later) when a bunch of guys are chasing you to kill.

To nobody's surprise Ninja Gaiden Z Yaiba turned out to be a real stinker. NG3 suddenly doesn't seem that bad now does it?

Razor's Edge while no Sigma is a decent apology for the terrible Ninja Gaiden 3. It's sad that that a pile of shit like Yaiba exists when there should have been a spin off Ninja Gaiden game featuring Ayane, Kasumi, Momiji and Rachel. Now that I would love to play.

Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate has not been ruined from  what I hear.

I expected a good surprise and was pretty curious about it. Did you played it?
I think I'm gonna buy all the same when the price lowers.

No, nothing can save NG3 :XD:

After the reviews it got, I probably won't. Didn't think it looked that appealing anyway ^^;

Even if NG3 wasn't as good as the first one it's certainly not the trainwreck people make it out to be.

My opinion on NG3: Yeah, I'm one of those who got the game just to see if it was as bad as people said it was. I agree with you on the plot, but the biggest kick in the balls for me was that there weren't life bars for the bosses so I could see how I was doing.

Yeah Team Ninja really was terrible this gen. Except for Ninja Gaiden 2, and Dead or Alive 5 I thought their games have been crap in the last several years. Dead or Alive 4 wasn't very good, Metroid Other M made me want to shoot myself it was so bad, and Ninja Gaiden 3 the original version at least was a combination of buggy, and easy. So yeah Dead or Alive 5 is their best game in a long time.

Really? I liked the game a lot. Yes, it was a bit different from the other games, but I didn't think it was different in a bad way. To me, it seemed to show us that Ryu had a human side, and wasn't just a killer like Regent of the Mask said he was (I LOVED Regent, by the way :squee: ). The only thing I would really complain about is the final boss, because it's another "God", since in NG1 and NG2 there were final/semi-final boss fights with "gods" (Vigoor Emperor, the Archfiend), so I thought they should have come up with something else for the end. That was the only thing that bugged me, though.
Of course, I'm easily entertained, so that might have something to do with it, too. :XD: Anyway, that's my two cents.

As I said, indeed there was some good ideas at the beginning in NG3 but they didn't exploited them well. I agree Regent of Mask was very badass at first but admit also that his story with Clifford and Mizuki is so ridiculous. Ryu's human side ok, but he was way too much out of character, destroying any logical psychology of him.
Good characters but nonsense story which ruins everything.

Just finished the game today some good stuff mostly bad. More than the nonsense story ruined this game. Removal of inventory system felt off the repetitive enemies weren't very interesting though the other NG's suffer from repetitive enemies too. Charging the KI was interesting mechanically though different options would have been nice.

I played through the game on hard difficulty, and overall I didn't feel the game was difficult just cheep and annoying more than hard. My BIGGEST complaint was the removal of the Guillotine Throw. Simply having that move even if it did no damage would have made the game infinitely more fun and interesting. Half of the times I died it felt like the only reason I lost is because I didn't have the necessary tools for the enemies.

But the absolutely biggest bullshit was after beating the game on Hard not only did I not get the achievements for Normal and Easy, the next Difficulty up was Master Ninja? MASTER NINJA AFTER HARD? REALLY THAT'S ALL YOU HAVE TO OFFER?

If you've played any of the other NG games avoid this one like the plague it is.

and the worst of this... Ninja Gaiden 3 Will be a Wii U launch title? what that heck is Nintendo Thinking? First Other M and now this? Simple Team Ninja without their leader doesn't know to make videogames.

and the worst thing? Itagaki Independt Studio lack of a Publisher for their Game(Third Person Shooter/Action Game) and will be force to declare Bankrup... maybe here Nintendo can do something

I know, I haven't played it but I vowed not to after seeing gameplay videos and reading the previews, I vowed to NEVER EVER even touch the game's case. However, Itagaki has created his own studio -- Valhalla Knights Game Studios -- and he's working on a game called Devil's Third, not much info has been given about this game but being by Itagaki, it's enough for me.

Having read some reviews, I can only say this-it seems that people want this game to bu judged "on it's own merit." The problem with this is that when they took the name, slapped a '3' at the end, and released (or dumped) onto the public, we are going to gauge it against the previous games in the series. Also, having played it, by "it's own merits", it's a very mediocre hack-n-slash game.

Even worse, all of the elements that Hayashi said would make a difference...don't. The 'Grip of Murder' doesn't do anything in the game.

And I wrote a review on dA, the game isn't as bad as the '3' that IGN gave it (tho I do agree with their points), but it's not deserving of anything higher than a 5.

You are pointing something interesting and I totally join your point of view. It reminds me a quote of Hayashi from an interview: he said he wanted Ninja Gaiden 3 to be the Number One action game. While it was nearly the case with the two previous (alongside with Devil may cry and co.), now it is far from reaching this level...

Yeah...I tried to love it...I even tried to like it...but I just couldn't get into it...you know what it seems like? It seems like they got 'MP Focus Disorder'. That's where they take a IP that's known for being single player and slapping a multi-player mode. While it isn't a bad concept, it fails when they neglect the single player mode. And there's a lot wrong with the single player mode...points that have probably been covered elsewhere...

TBH...if you are a completist and need to have every game in your collection, then you could get it...else, I'd avoid it like the plague...

And then, in secret, Ninja Gaiden 3 Black is being developed by Itagaky, with all the dlc in it aswell as changing 80% of the game design (Including the replacement of qte's with cutscenes and kunai climb with a vertical dash upward the wall) adding new features, new bosses, more enemies in varierity but less in numbers and exploration elements.

As for the ninpo, they could have used the excuse of "ninpo is an act where a ninja gathers all the elements surrounding him and use to his advantage", for example: For the sand level you summon a sand dragon, for the jungle level you summon a tornado, in a lab you'd absorve the electricity and shoot it, etc.(I think it would incentivate the player to go on).

Not only that, but also the humanization part would be improved, where after you dispatched all the foes, you see one weak enemy who cowers in fear (and pees his pants, just for the heck of it) and he tries to escape, and then the fact that you see your enemies shout out each other names inside one of them stealth sections: "Jimmy, are you still alive? Jimmy?! JIMMY!!!".

Alas, a man can only dream.
